BIORHYTHMS
Life is all about cycles or natural rhythms. This can be the most basic cycle of night and day or the most natural which is the cycle of seasons. From the day we are born there is a continuous range of cycles and rhythms recurring .The body has its own cyclical pattern and its own rhythm, the never-ending interchanges within the tiniest cells of your body's make-up, Including the cycles of breathing and regular heart beating.
We also have biorhythms, which are three clearly defined cycles that can affect our behavioural and physical response at certain times. These cycles begin on the day you are born and are continuous throughout your life. Many of us are not even aware that they exist although awareness of them could help to explain why sometimes for what we feel is no reason we are either physically or emotionally out of sorts and then on another day we can have energy and enthusiasm with no effort. Biorhythms may give an answer as to why we sometimes feel like this.
At the beginning of the last century Dr Wilhelm Fliess a German nose and throat specialist noticed identical case histories in his patients. He observed their active and passive phases of physical, emotional and mental behaviour and realised there was a pattern that ran between approximately 23-28 days.
The biorhythms have a physical cycle that lasts for 23days meaning approximately every 23days there will be a period of high and lower energy levels. The emotional or 'well-being' cycle lasts for 25 days and the intellectual cycle, 33days. Biorhythms are measured in a chart. There is a midline, above this is the positive phase where at some point the curves will peak, giving us a possible high or feel good day. Below the midline is the negative phase, possible causing us stress or tiredness. These cycles are of different duration, but what can happen is if they peak at the same time?
The biorhythm charts physical, emotional and intellectual cycles together and there are times when the lines representing these features cross or meet. If this is in the negative phase, this is a time to be quite wary of doing anything, which could offer great stress. It is usually two of the lines which cross throughout the different phases of all three cycles. When there is a meeting or crossing of lines going into the positive phase this could be a good time to be physically active or take an exam, start a new job or get married depending on which of the three factors was present together at the same time. For e.g. an athlete would be performing at their best when physical and intellectual cycles cross or even physical and emotional cycles come together, as with the most successful Olympic swimmer ever Mark Spitz. His seven gold medal win was over eleven days and his biorhythm chart for that time was at double peak form as described in the example.
So should we all rush to access our charts and try to predict our good and bad days before they happen? It is useful to some extent to be forewarned about maybe a time when physically and emotionally you could be low. Sometimes we find facts and figures hard to recall, so if you are planning to get on the' weakest link ' or 'who wants to be a millionaire' programmes then consulting your chart may help you get further and win more. Probably the best way to approach it is if you have something important approaching, then consulting the chart could help prepare you in how you will feel on that day. However we must not forget that we have set behavioural and emotional responses which are nothing to do with the biorhythms. I am going to be staying with my philosophy that I apply to my horoscope, that if I like what I see or read then I will believe in it,'Prepare for the worst but expect the best! '
