Streamline swim

  • Triple Olympian, 1984,1988 1992
  • Three Commonwealth games 1986,1990, 1994
  • Commonwealth double silver and bronze medallist
  • Two world championships finalist 1993
  • Six European championships, bronze medallist 1993
  • Holder of forty-four British Senior titles
  • Former multi-event British record holder
  • British Senior National swim team member during fifteen years 1983-1998
  • Middlesex services to sport award 1995
  • Three time winner of the sports writers award at the British senior nationals

 

  • Katharine took her first plunge into the  swimming pool in 1972 at the age of three years old.
  • Two years later she was swimming and joined the Gt.Yarmouth swimming club
  • She won her first national age group title in 1979 at the age of 10 years old
  • By 1982 she had represented Gt.Britain on  the European junior team at 12years old
  • Her Gt.Britain Senior cap was attained at the age of 13 but Peritonitis prevented her senior debut
  • At the age of 14years she broke her first British record for the 200m backstroke
  • Competed in the Los Angeles Olympics 1984 finishing 11th place
  • In 1986 won a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games Edinburgh
  • In 1988 won a gold in the Europa cup, Edinburgh
  • Represented  Gt.Britain at her second Olympics  in Seoul, South Korea, 1988
  • Swam in Commonwealth Games Auckland 1992
  • Swam in her third Olympic Games at Barcelona
  • Won a bronze medal with a British record in 1994 Commonwealth Games Victoria, Canada
  • By 1998 Katharine was the holder of a record 44 British Senior National titles 15 of these titles were won consecutively for the 2oom backstroke Her British titles were also won in the 50 and 100m backstroke , the 200 and 400 individual medley, showing her versatility as a national title holder
  • Katharine had Gt.Britain representation at all the major championships at European, Commonwealth ,Olympic and World level for 15years consecutively
  • 1999-2000  Katharine represented  two French swimming teams, Clichy and Caen swimming in the French nationals and
  • French club team championships for both these team
